Levitra

Levitra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence; inability to get or keep an erection) in men.

Levitra is in a class of medications called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation.

• Works for many men with a broad range of conditions, including high cholesterol
• Works for most men, including those taking one or more types of blood pressure medication (ask your doctor about drug interactions)
• Works for many men with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, across all levels of ED severity

Levitra Precautions

There are many precautions and warnings to be aware of when taking Levitra. For example, numerous other medications can potentially interact with this drug. Also, Levitra does not provide any protection against sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV. A few other Levitra precautions and warnings include people who should not take Levitra (including those who are taking a nitrate, such as nitroglycerin, for angina), the safety of taking the medicine if you have cardiovascular disease or significant heart disease risk factors, and the risk of a prolonged and sometimes painful erection (lasting longer than four hours) in some people taking the drug.

The effects of this medication can include:

• Achieving and maintaining an erection during sexual activity
• Having a harder erection during sexual activity
• Experiencing greater frequency of orgasms
• Having increased satisfaction with, and enjoyment of, intercourse.

In previous clinical studies, up to 80 percent of men reported that Levitra improved their erections. The drug was also shown to be effective in men with various health problems and medical conditions.

Levitra Drug Interactions

Levitra?® (vardenafil HCL) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medications that can lead to Levitra interactions include:

• Alpha blockers for high blood pressure or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), such as: Alfuzosin (Uroxatral?®); Doxazosin (Cardura?®); Prazosin (Minipress?®); Tamsulosin (Flomax?®); Terazosin (Hytrin?®).
• Certain heart arrhythmia medicines, such as: Amiodarone (Cordarone?®); Quinidine; Procainamide (Procanbid?®, Pronestyl?®); Sotalol (Betapace).
• Certain antibiotics or antifungals, such as: Clarithromycin (Biaxin?®); Erythromycin (Ery-Tab?®); Isoniazid (Nydrazid?®); Itraconazole (Sporanox?®); Ketoconazole (Nizoral?®); Miconazole; Telithromycin (Ketek?®)

LEVITRA Oral Storage

Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Levitra Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Levitra?® (vardenafil HCL). However, not everyone who takes Levitra will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate Levitra well. When side effects do occur, they are usually minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. In previous research studies, up to 3.4 percent of people taking Levitra stopped their medicine because of side effects.
